Mollart Apprenticeship Scheme – Investing In The Next Generation Of Engineers

HERE AT MOLLART ENGINEERING LIMITED WE ARE TACKLING THE CURRENT ENGINEERING SKILLS SHORTAGE THROUGH CONTINUOUSLY INVESTING IN THE NEXT GENERATION OF ENGINEERS.

The engineering sector in recent years has suffered from a shortage of qualified engineers. One of the reasons for the subsequent skills gap, has been the lack of adequate training and therefore limited opportunities to learn and develop. As a world leading company in precision engineering and deep hole drilling we felt it our duty to try and make a difference.

Here at Mollart we have some of the best engineers in our sector, however while we think about the present, we also have to think about building the future, that’s why a lot of time, effort and thought has gone into our apprenticeship scheme. We now have eight apprentices across our precision engineering sites in Chessington, Surrey and Resolven, South Wales. Their training involves hands on engineering work on a day to day basis, together with scheduled attendance at local training providers and all are working towards achieving their apprenticeship certification. We want to ensure our apprentices have the best training possible and have therefore nurtured a close relationship with local training providers, to ensure our apprentices obtain the right academic guidance, together with their hands on experience on site.

Next generation of engineers
Structured Learning

Each apprentice undertakes a structured regime which over the course of the programme consolidates their experience and knowledge, enabling them to:

  • Work safely in a machining environment
  • Create  their own programs
  • Select and set tooling
  • Operate high value and complex machinery

Our current employee base includes a number of apprentices who have completed their apprenticeship with Mollart, building upon the knowledge and expertise gained from the programme, developing their skills and obtaining additional experience across all areas of the business.

Meeting Future Plans

This high dedication to training is part of Mollart’s  programme to develop our own in-house production skills and to meet future plans. It also helps us to maximise gains from the latest developments in manufacturing technology, which continues to be established at both sites.

Our apprentices are on a structured salary scheme, which rewards progress at college and the academic aspect of the apprenticeship, plus commitment and work ethic. This culminates towards a rewarding and satisfying career with a company ingrained with nearly 100 years of history.
